It’s a trauma response.People who restrict food tends to use food as a means to create safety.Dieting is a traumatic experience.Living in a non-conforming body in a world that stigmatizes it is a traumatic experience.When the body doesn’t feel safe, it seeks protection — and food often becomes that safety.
That’s not a failure. I made a decision yesterday afternoon…I’m pausin I made a decision yesterday afternoon…I’m pausing the launch of the Non-Diet Coaching Certification.As a community of ethical professionals who want to live in ways that serve not only ourselves, but the world, and who are grounded in social justice values, we are not well right now.What’s happening in the world is destabilizing.
In the U.S., we’re witnessing the harm caused by ICE enforcement practices in Minnesota.
In Canada, we’re grieving the police shooting of two Indigenous people in Atlantic Canada earlier this week.I noticed myself doing what many of us do in moments like this.
Doom scrolling.
Looping political analysis.
Watching too much news, even though I know better.Awareness without action creates overwhelm.
Action without grounding leads to burnout.Then an article by @kelly.diels  landed in my inbox yesterday am. She posed a question that stopped me in my tracks:What action actually contributes to the world I’m trying to build?For me, the answer is teaching and coaching.
Those actions ground me in my values.
They anchor me in my purpose.
They allow me to contribute to a world where women have access to health care that is just, supportive, and rooted in well-being.So instead of launching, I’m teaching.Health Coaching, Activism, and Social Justice
