Follow your hunger

Chew gum or drink water when you feel hungry…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s what my weight watcher coach told when I was 12.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She had just weighed me and I didn’t lose any weight that week. She shook her finger at me and told me I didn’t work try hard enough. (Heads up: that’s trauma) . I told her I was hungry all the time. She told me not to listen to my hunger that it wasn’t right and instead to distract myself with gum or water.⠀⠀⠀⠀

When should I eat?

Eat when you’re hungry.

But I don’t know when I’m hungry? If I let myself eat when I was hungry I’ll overeat. My body is broken when it comes to hunger I can’t trust my body.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The journey of learning intuitive eating is about reconnecting with our natural hunger signals. It’s about knowing how hunger shows up & how it feels in my body.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Intuitive eating is a practice. It’s about unlearning dieting behaviours of taming our hunger and experiencing with your hunger and with time coming back home to trust my hunger

What are you hungry for?

Are you hungry for food or pleasure? Our brain reacts to food in the same way as it reacts to sexual pleasure. Just like when we have an orgasm, when we eat dopamine is release in our brain among other pleasure hormones and neurotransmitters

Our brains are programmed to seek pleasure for our survival. In case of orgasm for reproduction and food for energy to our body. We crave the release of dopamine in our brains… and IF the only way we get it is with food then guess what? We crave food.

Intuitive Eating is learning to understand what you are hungry for and nourishing all of your hunger.
