This time next year

This time next year…

2019 is going to be the best year of my life.

I know this is true.

Each year is always better than the last.

I keep evolving and working on myself.

My goals keep getting bigger.

My heart keeps getting bigger.

My clients’ lives keep getting bigger.

In December, in the Academy, we write our goals for the year.

But we do it differently than anyone else.

We choose how we want to feel.

We chase our Desired Feelings.

because what’s really behind all “regular goals” is wanting to feel a certain way… We chase weight loss to be accepted, to be beautiful in the eyes of others, to not feel marginalized by society, to feel sexy.

In fact, we don’t really seek weight loss, more money or a new house… we chase how we think we’re going to feel when we “get there”.

I did this last year at this same time.

So, did all my #academysisters.

And this year we are celebrating all the successes.

I’m inspired by my students and clients every day to be the best version of myself.

I feel free.

I live in an abundance. Everything is possible.

I experience beauty all the time.

I have faith in what the universe has in store for me and my tribe of academy sisters.

How will you feel this year?

This time next year, will you tell me your success story?

I say yes.

Let’s set your desire feelings for 2019.

Then, let’s make it happen together.

Join me in the Going Beyond The Food Academy.

In this episode I discuss

  • Motivation versus Inspiration
  • My top 3 tips to bring inspiration into your life
  • How to create an environment of inspiration
  • My top inspirational quotes

Last episode I shared why I decided to ditch resolutions all together 5 years ago. Like many women, I used to have resolutions every new year. Yes, some of them worked… until they didn’t. Does this sound familiar to you?

In fact, here’s cold hard truth about resolutions: 40 to 45% of American adult make one or more resolutions each year.

Now, I don’t chase regular goals… I chase desired feeling. Yes, goal setting with feelings.

You can too! Chasing feelings is the key to staying motivated all year and confident! I’ll tell you how. Click here!

Goal Setting with Feelings

Did you make resolutions last year?

How did it work for you?

Here’s cold hard truth about resolutions: 40 to 45% of American adult make one or more resolutions each year.

Top new year’s resolutions for 2017:
– Save money
– Lose weight / get in shape
– Have more sex

The following shows how many of these resolutions are maintained as time goes on:
– not even 1 month: 43%
– one month: 66%
– less than 3 months: 80%

Is that you? That was me for years…. until I decided to ditch resolutions all together 5 years ago. Once I’ve done that, I’ve achieved all of my goals.

Now, I don’t chase regular goals… I chase desired feeling. Yes, goal setting with feelings.

You can too! This is what we talk about in today’s episode. How to flip the resolutions model on its head and chase what really sits under traditional goals: a desire to feel a certain way.

Chasing feelings is the key to staying motivated all year and confident!

In this episode I discuss

  • Why you should ditch SMART goal setting
  • How to set goals that will stimulate your right brain: your feelings, emotions, creation and possibilities
  • Goal setting with feelings: step-by-step process

Last episode was all about how to get results when desiring to change some things in our lives.  Some women go on to achieve their goal and others don’t. Why?

To be honest, it has nothing to do with your capacity as much as your mindset. Your ability to have an honest discussion with yourself and accepting what will need to change in your life in order to achieve your goals. And likely what needs to change isn’t what you think… because the truth is if you knew you’d already done, right?

The secret to achieving your goals resides in what you don’t know or what you don’t want to see or accept about yourself.

Maintaining Motivation

“I get off track very easily and difficult to get back on track. Finding a way to be motivated every day is hard. What should I do?

That’s one of the top 3 questions I get on open forums. Along with how to be consistent and how can I lose weight (I never answer this one anymore!).

The truth is maintaining motivation is a struggle for many as it was for me and is still when it comes to exercise.

Here’s the secret… Motivation is not something you have or don’t have. It’s something you cultivate via your intention.

Research and science are clear: Willpower doesn’t work. So, what then? Your big why, your intention, your higher purpose is what works to sustain motivation day in and day out.

Your ‘why’ is what we call an internal motivator and the key to maintain motivation is to be clear on your ‘why’.

To set the intention based on internal motivators that will activate the right part of your brain and create the magic of motivation without having to resort to willpower and self-punishment as a force to make you do things.

And that, ladies, is in every part of your life… personal / career/ family… and yes your health. Motivation works the same way for everything. Everything!

Let’s dive into the 5 strategies to maintaining motivation… this podcast will rock your world!

In this episode I discuss

  • Internal motivator versus external motivators
  • 4 strategies for maintaining motivations
  • Changing relationship to food and body: what you need to do

Last episode, I talked about the must-have to make peace with food… Body Acceptance. More than a must-have, it’s essential.

We think that we can delay accepting our body until we get our relationship to food OK. Most of us are ready to do the work with our emotions but when it comes to doing the work with our body image… we resist. And we resist hard!

The truth is…. you can’t make peace with food without making peace with your body right now as is!

Yet we think that we can avoid accepting our body. The pain and suffering associated with non-body acceptance is the cause of many emotional eating roller coaster, binges and diet cycle… Click here to learn the 3 things you can do now to start accepting… yep, no-cost involved.

Holiday Survival Guide

Surviving the holidays can be tough. Thriving in the holiday nearly impossible for some.

Perhaps the holiday period is causing you more anxiety than pleasure. The anticipation of seeing certain family members might be causing you to be in an emotional eating rollercoaster.

Perhaps the business of it all drives you to completely forget about yourself and by the time you get to Christmas, you’re completely exhausted and completely lost control on any healthy habits you might have in place just a few weeks before.

The Beyond The Food Holiday Survival guide will move you from self-destructing eating habits during the holiday to thriving and loving the holidays altogether!

and Yes, it’s possible…

As with anything we teach here, a few tweaks in your mindset and how you approach certain situation or event will be needed to move from shriveling at the idea to anticipating the holiday with excitement.

In this episode I discuss

  • The #1 cause of emotional eating loop
  • My personal advice on how you engage with food and weight during the holidays
  • How to deal with negative family members

Last episode, I shared why smart women don’t diet and what they do instead. I know exactly based on my personal experience… after 27 years of dieting, I’m clear on one thing… diets don’t work. We think that a “thin” body is going to unlock our happiness, our acceptance, our joy.

The stats are clear…

91% of all women are unhappy about their body and resort to dieting.

And 95% of all dieters regain their all weight within 1-5 years.

Yet we keep dieting. We keep hating our body. We keep judging ourselves for our inability to be in freaking control… yet neuroscience is clear: WILLPOWER is a limited resource.

Still dieting? You gotta listen to this, smart woman! Click here.

Why Diets Don’t Work

Smart women don’t diet… they do THIS instead.

After 27 years of dieting, I’m clear on one thing… diets don’t work.

91% of all women are unhappy about their body and resort to dieting.

We think that a “thin” body is going to unlock our happiness, our acceptance, our joy.

And 95% of all dieters regain their all weight within 1-5 years.

Yet we keep dieting. We keep hating our body. We keep judging ourselves for our inability to be in freaking control… yet neuroscience is clear: WILLPOWER is a limited resource.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”– Albert Einstein

The question is… are you?

After making peace with food and my body by going beyond the food as a nutritionist and looking at what was really driving our desire to eat and judge our body, today, I help women do one thing: Transform your relationship to food and body so you can….

*FEEL BETTER about YOUR body as it is today without having to lose anything.

*BE HEALTHIER in your body and mind as you make aligned choices.
*Finally no longer being controlled by food instead, having the power to say yes or no.

*Being able to release the emotional blocks that keep you stuck.

*Be at peace with your body, eating and most importantly, yourself so you can be happy NOW… not conditional to losing something.

If you’re not sure if you need more peace around food or your body OR if you are the right fit for the food freedom challenge, I have the perfect thing for you…

Get Your Food Freedom Score

Today, we are going to find out how you fare on the scale of food freedom (10 questions only). Are you “normal eater” and have no emotional attachment or control issue with food? Or are you a woman that is being controlled by food?

… And worst-case scenario, you’ll spend 90 seconds seeing what could be possible for you that maybe you aren’t ready for in your life or maybe you’ll have a realization that what you thought was a healthy relationship to food isn’t?

Who knows what will be the outcome of this 90 secs assessment score?!?!

Get Your Food Freedom Score

In this episode I discuss

  • The real reason why smart women don’t diet
  • Why I don’t talk about weight loss and my programs are not designed
  • Why your intention is key in changing the way you eat
  • The truth about why diets don’t work

Last episode, I talked about the “All or Nothing Mindset” trap. This absolutist thinking is one of the most common denominators in our Going Beyond The Food community. It’s the source of many emotional eating loops, overeating weekends and restricted food binges.

In fact, this all or nothing mindset is a negative thought process also known as cognitive distortion. Everything- from food to your views of yourself to professional life– is divided into black or white terms. Everything is either success or failure.

So, this episode focused on defining this mindset and providing you with a step-by-step solution to the “black or white” mentality.

All or Nothing Mindset Trap

Do you say things like “I’m on track”, “I’m having a good or bad day” and the ultimate “on and off the wagon”?

Absolutist thinking is one of the most common denominators in our Going Beyond The Food community. It’s the source of many emotional eating loops, overeating weekends and restricted food binges.

The truth is the all or nothing mindset is a negative thought process also known as cognitive distortion. Everything- from food to your views of yourself to professional life– is divided into black or white terms. Everything is either success or failure.

The consequences of this way of engaging with food and, quite frankly, life are anxiety, stress, self-doubt, low self-esteem, feeling of failure and shame and long-term distorted relationship to food. Most critical, it affects our ability to have a healthy and balanced life experience.

To add fuel to the fire, the fact is that diets are built around the all or nothing framework. We start the diet, we restrict food and it works until it doesn’t. Then, we try harder and feel that we need to be 100% to get results… we feel deprived… we cave in having “bad food” …  as a result, we feel ashamed of ourselves… and it goes on and on.

The Solution to the “All or Nothing Mindset”

The solution is to learn to live in the grey… to separate your self-worth with how you engage with food or your weight. You are so much more than the way you eat or what you weigh.

Step 1

The first step, instead of trying to suppress your hunger and cravings, seek to understand why you desire to eat. Shift the focus from bad and good to compassion and acceptance.

Step 2

The second step is to learn to manage your emotions with something else than food. We teach using your breath (The Crave Cure Formula) to ride the wave of your emotions. Some use tapping… many other solutions… just got to program your subconscious mind to seek something else than food.

Final Step

The last step is to tap into your intuition to know what to know, what to eat instead of diet rules. We call this intuitive eating, your internal nutritionist. Yes, every human was given one at birth!

I used to be the Queen of “All or Nothing”… extreme in everything. At 36 years old, it came to end. My body couldn’t take the stress anymore and shut down. That’s why I’m so passionate about my work and what I teach.

In this episode I discuss

  • The truth about the ‘all or nothing’ mindset
  • The real consequence of the absolutist thinking to the women of the Beyond the Food community
  • The solution to the ‘black or white’ mentality

Last episode, we answered a number of questions about sugar addiction with Bitten Jonsson, RN and ADDIS/SUGAR Certified and a Sugar Addiction Specialist. I also gave her carte blanche to use my own assessment to explain and help you understand addiction.

In this episode, I also shared my personal take on the labeling of ‘addict’ and how I view my addictive behaviors which paved the way for the creation of the Going Beyond The Food Method. The Going Beyond The Food Method was born from me hitting rock bottom and seeing the story repeating itself in my patients. It’s about shining the light on your possibilities by acknowledging and having compassion for your darkness.

The Going Beyond The Food Method is what healed my sugar addiction at 38 years old. But it also what allowed me to stop nicotine too at 36 years old… I just didn’t know that’s what I was doing! You don’t wanna miss this episode. Click here.

Are you a sugar addict?

Are you a sugar addict?

Is sugar addiction even real?

What’s the difference between sugar addiction and emotional eating?

If we’re addicted to sugar, what should we do?

These are all the questions we will answer with Bitten Jonsson, RN, ADDIS/SUGAR Certified and a Sugar Addiction Specialist. I gave her carte blanche to use my own assessment to explain and help you understand addiction.

If you look at the medical definition of addiction… I’m an addict. Throughout my life, I have been addicted to many substances and activities: started with sugar then moved on to drugs and nicotine and then human co-dependency and work. As Bitten described, I have an addictive personality.

But I don’t like the label of addict. To be honest, I don’t like labeling altogether. I find labeling to be very disempowering. When I labeled myself as an addict, which I did in my twenties, it made my addiction worse. I thought I was powerless…. that the substance had more power than I could ever have over my own addiction.

For me, my addictive behaviors are a message from my soul… once I understood this concept of addiction, it allowed me to recover as they say in the world of addiction. Instead of recovery, I say I surrendered.

Surrendering to my addictions created the Going Beyond The Food Method.

That you are watching on video or listening on the podcast I hope my vulnerability in sharing my story will help one of you… to see the light and what is possible.

In this episode we discuss

  • The definition of sugar addiction
  • A quick tour to your brain – the three types of brain
  • I also shared my own addiction assessment that Bitten completed
  • The ways to address sugar addiction and addiction in general

Last episode I talked about a superstar student of the current semester of the Going Beyond The Food Academy who’s seeing so much results in short 4week period that she feels the duty to share our method with people in her life that need it.

She wanted to know if we have an episode of the podcast she could share with people that would encapsulate our approach and what to do to get started… we didn’t have one. Well, that’s not true. We had many that dissected one point but none that recaps our approach at higher level. One designed for beginners.

So, I created it… Practicing the basics is just that! Click here.

Last episode was an episode recorded via Day 1 Wrap-up session of the Going Beyond the Food Project 2018. We answered questions submitted about the talks of the day. In fact, it was a ‘nothing-is-off-limits’ kind of episode.

The Going Beyond the Food Project is an annual online conference that I host where I gather 21 experts from around the world that I handpicked to teach you what you need to know to finally be at peace with food and body.  I also shared quick tips on how not to get overwhelmed with all the information from an online conference like this one. Click here.

Live Q&A Session… Nothing Is Off Limits!

The last time we did a live recording, the episode quickly went to the top chart! That live Q&A session on Facebook was almost a year ago!  There’s so much fun to do…

We are well overdue for another one… Just like the last one, we recorded this one over a Facebook Live during our yearly Going Beyond the Food Project online conference.

In this episode I discuss

  • The questions received from the talks of Day 1 of the Going Beyond the Project 2018
  • How to get started with your transformation by going beyond the food
  • How not to get overwhelmed with all the information from an online conference
  • The fundamental aspect that you should focus on to bring about permanent change to your life

Last episode, I talked about an article that was published by Huffington Post on September 19th, 2018 that sent shock wave in the world. The article titled “Everything You Know About Obesity Is Wrong” by Micheal Hobbes is controversial… is challenging all of our societal beliefs around obesity all of them.

From obesity is the #1 enemy of health to dieting throws it all in the air… and also explains why we suffer so much when stigmatized with weight issues.

Is it all true? Almost… Although I agree with most certain elements just encourage even more victimization and more suffering. You gotta tune in to this episode! This will rock your world! Click here.

An article was published by Huffington Post on September 19th, 2018 sent shock wave in the world.

  • Why fat-shaming isn’t only not cool, but also doesn’t work in weight loss
  • The importance of addressing the issue why we gain weight
  • Why Weight and Health are not perfect synonyms
  •  Fatphobia can come from medical providers. Yes, statistics prove it!
  • The reasons why intervention or approach to change weight should be guided he HAES
